Description:Destination DC (DDC), the official destination marketing organization for our nationís capital, is looking for a dynamic sponsorship and partnership professional who is passionate about Washington, DC and travel and tourism to join our team.

Department Summary
P&A is an exciting and entrepreneurial revenue-generating department within DDC. P&A generates approximately 15% of DDC overall revenue through membership (dues), sponsorship and special events. Engagement and retention of the nearly 1,000 business members and acquisition of new members is critical. These businesses contribute to our cityís vibrant economy and the positive image and identity of Washington, DC as a world-class destination for locals, visitors and convention attendees to enjoy.

Position Summary
The P&A Partnership Coordinator is responsible for managing partnership accounts and fulfilling benefits. The Coordinator is a primary contact with partners and sponsors and manages strategic relationships both at operational and executive levels. The Partnership Coordinator works very closely with the and Partnership Manager and Vice President, P&A.

A successful Partnership Coordinator offers a combination of:
 Collaborative spirit and diplomatic finesse to work effectively across DDC, in particular with the Marketing team, to ensure benefits are delivered to sponsors and partners.
 Creative ideas for engaging partners and generating sponsor packages.
 Meticulous organization and record keeping.
 Sales savvy to attract sponsors and negotiate partnerships.
 Genuine interest in and knowledge about DDC and partnersí events and businesses.


Duties:Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Maintain a portfolio of partnership accounts. Fulfill and service contract obligations including account management and communication, marketing exposure and fulfillment reporting.

2. Contribute to and negotiate benefits and contracts. (All contracts are executed by VP or CEO) for both

a. In-kind partnerships: Promotional and event based opportunities to generate awareness, traffic and exposure for DDC.

b. Cash sponsorships: Build benefits packages to offer sponsors value and return on investment from DDC-offered assets.


3. Track payment schedules, project plans, implementation plans, and project/program delivery across sales and marketing programs.

4. Work with marketing team to solicit Washington DC sweepstakes and social media give away partner requests. Fulfill in conjunction with Marketing team.

5. Prepare presentations, sales materials, and reports, utilizing clear and concise charts, graphics and tables. Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools including mail merge functionality, PowerPoint, and Excel required.

6. Support the Partnership Manager and VP to recruit new partners and sponsors through cold calls, prospecting, and participation in appropriate business-to-business and community functions.

7. Review sponsorship and partnership trends, provide analysis and recommendations for growth.

8. Meet goals, both cash and in-kind, and performance plan as established by the VP, P&A and Partnership Manager.

9. Actively participate as a member of the P&A Team
A. Data: Update partner records and track communications in SimpleView database
B. Publications: Edit and proof member listings for Washington, DC official publications including visitor guides, meeting planning guide, and map.
C. Collaborate to support membership goals and offer ways members may meaningfully engage through partnerships and sponsorship.
D. Aid in planning, implementing and attend all Membership events and activities created to engage and add value for members.
E. Attend weekly company-wide and departmental meetings. Manage specific cross-departmental meetings.
F. General department duties as needed.
Qualifications:Experience, Competencies & Education
 Results oriented, focus on execution and ability to advocate for and deliver benefits for both partners and DDC.
 Ability to prioritize, determine best impact and rigorous follow up to ensure best results in a dynamic, high profile organization.
 Eagerness to contribute to and learn from a team of dynamic, engaged professionals.
 Demonstrated interest in the travel and tourism economy and enthusiasm for Washington, DC.
 Great sense of humor, positive attitude.
 Exceptional customer service and business etiquette
 Consistent, positive follow-up
 Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
 Strong written and oral communication skills
 Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends
 Proficiency with Microsoft Office and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
 Interest in relevant business and trade publications to stay abreast of issues and source new prospects.
 Two - five (2-5) years sponsorship, media, sales, and/or account management experience. Preferably within the travel and tourism or hospitality industry.
 Bachelorís Degree (B.S./B.A.) from four-year college or university.

Accountabilities & Measures
Weekly status reports required and periodic performance evaluations will be conducted. Both quantitative and qualitative goals of sponsorship acquisition, renewal, partnership negotiation and departmental success will be measured.
